Frequently Asked Questions
Mathew Youngs, Close-Up Magician
How much does it cost to hire Mathew?
The booking fee can be affected by a number of circumstances relating to the nature of an event. With this in mind, an individual quote will be formulated to offer value for money and a competitive price. To get your quote please
Contact Us, providing details of the date and time of the event, as well as the location and the number of guests attending.
What do I get for my money?
A unique, contemporary performer, who conducts himself in a professional manor and aims to provide customer satisfaction. The fee pays for the performance time at the event, which is ultimately shaped by the many years of practice that Mathew has dedicated to the art of magic. The unique experience of interactive illusion that Mathew offers has made him a highly sought after performer. The astonishment that he often creates is something that can help people to remember your event for years to come.
What can we expect Mathew to do?
Mathew has an original act, which falls under the category of 'close up magic'. He uses his best discretion to approach your guests in a friendly manor at appropriate moments of the event. He performs for small groups of people and works his way around the venue so that everybody has the chance to experience his magic. For a demonstration or explanation of his material, please

How will Mathew's magic fit the occasion?
The answer to this question depends on the type of function and the run of events on the day. Mathew's interactive illusion has the advantage of being very adaptable, meaning that his work can usually be tailored to suit your needs. Performances generally take place under the following conditions:
- At tables whilst guests await food or subsequent to dining.
- In a 'walk-around' style whilst guests stand or sit in groups.
Mathew will not perform during the short period during meal service and prefers not to coincide with the opening of a buffet. Notification of a band or very loud music will need to be provided prior to confirmation of the booking. Mathew can then decide whether the level of noise interference will have an effect on his act.
What do we need to provide?
Details of the event and a valid method of payment, and that's pretty much it!
Another advantage of Mathew's act is that he has no additional requirements such as a stage or special lighting/sound etc. He performs with items from his (or the spectator's) pockets such as money, keys, cards, phones, rings, and more. It is great if a dressing room can be provided but it is by no means an essential requirement.
How long will he stay for?
This will depend mainly on the number of guests attending but can also be affected by aspects such as 'speeches'. Bookings have no exact time specification as Mathew stays until he has met and performed for as many of your guests as possible. An example of this time frame might be 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours for 100 guests.
How far does Mathew travel?
Mathew is based in Nottingham but has performed all over the country and even abroad. Any location will be considered.
